Khotso Mokoena captured gold for South Africa in the men’s triple jump on Saturday at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a victorious leap of 17.20 metres. The long jump and triple jump practitioner outjumped Nigeria’s Tosin Oke and India’s Arpinder Arpinder Singh. The Nigerian finished second with a jump of 16.84 metres to claim silver.
Singh sprang 16.63 metres to collect bronze. Mokoena, the 2008 Olympic Games long jump silver medallist, was the only jumper to go over 17 metres. It turned out to be South Africa’s 13th gold medal at the 2014 Games.
