South Africa’s Kevin Anderson is through to the second round at Roland Garros after a 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Frenchman Stephane Robert. The 2011 SA Open winner only needed the minimum three sets to see off the 2010 SA Open runner-up. Anderson will meet another Frenchman in the next round, Axel Michon.
Britain’s Andy Murray was also a winner on Tuesday. Murray dropped a set but still saw off Andrey Golubev 6-1, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to progress in Paris. Spain’s David Ferrer advanced from the first round on Tuesday thanks to a straight sets slashing of Dutchman Igor Sijsling. Ferrer crushed Sijsling 6-4, 6-3, 6-1.
