Kaizer Chiefs Win Again

Kaizer Chiefs defeated Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-0 in an Absa Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.  The home side started brightly in the early parts of the match as they were looking to end 2014 on a high.  In the 10th minute Chiefs had a shot at goal but did not trouble the Aces keeper as they continued to push forward in numbers looking for an early goal.

In the 21st minute a header at goal by Kingston Nkhatha missed to the right before Zamuxolo Ngalo’s shot went wide to the right of the posts as the visitors looked for an opener.  Nkhatha won a free kick in a dangerous area for Amakhosi but Bernard Parker’s shot hit the Amazayoni wall.

With half-time approaching, a header from Ivan Bukenya went over the goal posts in the 41st minute.  Stuart Baxter’s men continued to create clear cut chances as Mandla Masango missed a golden opportunity to put his side in front but failed to connect with his header as the match went to the break 0-0.  In the second half Baxter’s boys were looking to capitalise on their chances but they survived a scare as Ngalo’s shot hit the cross bar in the 50th minute.

In the 59th minute a great cross from Nkhatha finds Masango in the box as he headed the ball into the back of the net, and gave the hosts an advantage.  A shot from Tendai Ndoro in the 71st minute went over the bar as he tried to curl it as they were looking for the equalising goal.  Clive Barker’s men were starting to threatened Chiefs defence as the home side were looking to hit them on a counter attack.

A defence splitting pass from Reneilwe Letsholonyane found Masango clean through but his shot went straight to Jackson Mabokgwane in the 78th minute.  Chiefs made their last change in the 87th minute with Matthew Rusike replacing Masango.  Rusike had a shot at goal but Mabokgwane saved his shot.  The home side managed to hold on to their one goal advantage as they won by 1-0 and remain unbeaten in the 2014/15 season.
