Kaizer Chiefs Win Sixth Straight Absa Premiership Match

The Absa Premiership saw Kaizer Chiefs won their sixth straight league match to see off the University of Pretoria 2-1 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.  Tefu Mashamaite made an early visit to the penalty area in the third minute but his header went wide.  For the first seven minutes of the game Chiefs saw most of the ball.

With both teams looking for the breakthrough it was Amakhosi who would strike.  Reneilwe Letsholonyane put his team in the lead when he scored in the 18th minute.  A tight defence from AmaTuks held tight to prevent the hosts from netting their second.

Brilliant Khuzwayo didn’t have much to do in the first half as Tuks hardly breached the home defence.  The first half ended with the Glamour Boys in the lead by a goal to nil.

Before the beginning of the second half Alan Robertson was replaced by Thabo Mosadi.  The second 45 saw Khuzwayo shown a yellow card for a bad foul in the box.  This resulted in a penalty to the visitors.  Geoffery Massa took the penalty and made it count.

As Steven Barker’s side picked up momentum Khuzwayo managed to make a brilliant save which denied Vuyisile Ntombayithethi a chance at goal.  A double substitution was made by Stuart Baxter when Siyabonga Nkosi made way for George Maluleka and Siphiwe Tshabalala was replaced by Mandla Masango.  Tuks kept the home side on their toes until the 70th minute when Yeye scored goal number two to put Chiefs back in the lead.

The match ended with Chiefs picking up all three point and their sixth straight league win.
