Championship side Blackburn Rovers humiliated English Premier League club Stoke City 4-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday at Ewood Park. The match started off very well for the Potters as Peter Crouch put them ahead in the 10th minute after a Philipp Wollscheid assist. After some fine displays by Stoke it looked like they would add more goals.
However, Joshua King would then level affairs with a wonderful low driven effort 15 minutes before the half-time break. The goal made the home side gain momentum and they took control of the proceedings. It was evident that King’s leveller had given Rovers some confidence as Rudy Gestede made it 2 -1 from the spot.
The second stanza proved to be worse for Mark Hughes’ men as the hosts continued to press for more goals and eventually King grabbed his second for the day to make it 3-1. The visitors tried to change the game as they withdrew Victor Moses and put on Charlie Adam but that did not hinder King from grabbing his hat-trick for the day to make it 4-1 and round off a day Hughes and his men would rather forget.
