Ten man Ivory Coast and Guinea shared the spoils in their Africa Cup of Nations Group D encounter at the Estadio de Malabo on Tuesday. Boubacar Fofana had an early chance on goal when he was left unmarked in the box and went for a header but his attempt went over the crossbar. The Ivorians had two chances of their own through Gervinho and Wilfred Bony however they were denied by the Guinea defense.
However it was the Guineans who took the lead in the 36th minute when Mohamed Yattara’s left footed shot found the top left corner to take the lead in the first half. In the second half both teams grappled to find some momentum buy it was the Elephants who had the bulk of the possession as well as attempts. They were however dealt a blow when Gervinho was sent off for an off the ball scuffle.
They did however score in the 72nd minute when Seydou Doumbia fired one passed Sylvain Gbohouo to draw level. Neither team was able to get the upper hand as the game ended 1-1.
