Argentina will be without the experienced Juan Martin Hernandez for Friday’s 2015 Rugby World Cup third/fourth-place play-off at the Olympic Stadium in London against South Africa. Los Pumas doctor Guillermo Botto confirmed Hernandez is out with a rib fracture and in a further blow, the Argentines will be without star fullback Joaquin Tuculet, who has been sidelined with a shoulder injury. Daniel Hourcade’s men were back in training on Tuesday after a period of rest following Sunday’s semi-final defeat to Australia.
The players worked at a low intensity while focusing on defence, attack strategies and the potential sequences of the game plan. The backline players also had time to rehearse attack moves while the forwards were practicing scrums and line outs. Afterwards the South Americans were in the gym for a workout session before finding time to sign autographs and take pictures with fans at their London Irish base for this week.
In the afternoon, the players spent time with their families. Hourcade will announce his match day squad later on Wednesday for the Springboks clash.
