Lewis Hamilton rewrote his name in the history books with his third Formula 1 drivers’ world championship title on Sunday after winning the US Grand Prix. Following the victory, the 30-year old became the first driver to claim ten or more F1 victories in consecutive seasons. At the last huddle, Hamilton outpaced his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg thus winning the race and the championship.
After all the driving and drifting the champion said over the car radio: ‘This is the greatest moment of my life.’ At the podium Hamilton was accompanied by Rosberg and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. The British-born driver summed up just how his career has been, win after win after another win. Before the race victory, Hamilton was all but secure as he managed to scoop the Austin race with three grands prix to spare.
On the last lap, Vettel put Rosberg under enormous pressure and he was kept on his toes. In the end, Hamilton was first over the line in Texas to wrap up a third career title.
