Guinea’s Syli Nationale

Guinea will be eyeing their first ever Africa Cup of Nations title at the 2015 edition in Equatorial Guinea.  The West Africans were runners-up in 1976 but have yet to actually lift the trophy.  Syli Nationale (National Elephant) reached the quarter-finals at three consecutive tournaments from 2004 to 2008 and Michel Dussuyer will hope to have the winning formula to break through that deadlock this year.

Dussuyer will call on the likes of Anderlecht midfielder Ibrahima Conte to play a vital role.  Moreover players like Ibrahima Traore will be looked to for quality, as will 21-year old Lyon hitman Mohamed Yatarra, who has started his international career promisingly with six strikes in 10 caps.

The Guineans qualified as runners-up Group E behind Ghana and ahead of Uganda and Togo.  Dussuyer’s side have been drawn in a very difficult group at the 2015 AFCON against continental heavyweights Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Mali.

Prediction: Group Stage exit
