Guilty Waratahs Appeal

At a SANZAR judicial hearing on 25 May 2015, SANZAR Judicial Officer, Robert Stelzner SC, found Silatolu Latu guilty of contravening Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground while that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play.  The player was suspended for four weeks.  Latu has decided to appeal the outcome.
The Waratahs player was joined on the suspension list by teammate Will Skelton, who was found guilty of contravening Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground while that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play.  Skelton was suspended for two weeks.  Skelton has also lodged an appeal.

A SANZAR Appeals Committee, chaired by Lex Mpati, with Adam Casselden and Chris Morris as members, will hear the appeals via videoconference on Thursday.
