Great Day For Kevin Anderson

It was a great day for Kevin Anderson on Monday as he progressed at the Shanghai Masters after the announcement of a new career-high ranking of 16.  The South African needed three sets to defeat James Ward 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in China.  Anderson, as expected, outserved the Briton seven aces to four although he did not hit one unreturnable serve in the first set.

Ward, a qualifer, gave the 28-year old a hard time over one hour and 44 minutes on the Grandstand court before the world number 16 made his way through to the second round at this ATP Masters 1000 event.
