Black Leopards played a successful first game of the National First Division 2014/15 play-offs against Jomo Cosmos on Sunday at the Thohoyandou Stadium, winning 2-0. A first half goal from Sphelele Ntshangase and a second half goal from Ivan Mahangwawahaya saw Leopards pocket three points. The first half belonged to the home team, with Ntshangase scoring the lead goal in the 12th minute.
A combination between Ntshangase and Roggert Nyundu made it almost impossible for the visitors defence to defend. Much of the chances from Cosmos were offside. They had three shot off target, all three offside.
The match went into half-time with Lidoda Duvha leading 1-0. In the second half, Ezenkosi came back stronger yet still not fruitful in terms of goal scoring. They were in control of the second half and made necessary substitutions.
In the 54th minute, Zeca Marques’ men made a counter attack. A goal by Mahangwawahaya was the result after a cross from Lebohang Mabunja and ensured a 2-0 lead for the home team. It became very difficult for Jomo Sono’s men to produce the needed goals for maximum points.
Leopards’ goalkeeper was on vacation throughout the game, making only save from in the entire 90 minutes of the game. The final whistle blew with the home team securing three points and a great start of the play off’s. Marques’ men will face his old team, Moroka Swallows on Wednesday.
