Everton piled more pressure on struggling Queens Park Rangers with a 2-1 win at Loftus Road on Sunday evening in an English Premier League match. Seamus Coleman gave the away side the lead as early as the 18th minute after an assist by Leon Osman. Ten minutes later Charlie Austin nearly levelled affairs but his shot was blocked by the Toffees defence.
The home side continued to push forward in search of an equaliser but their attempts would only bear fruit in the 65th minute through Eduardo Vargas. QPR would have thought that they had earned the point but Aaron Lennon broke their hearts in the 77th minute as the game ended 2-1 in favour of the Merseyside outfit. The victory will ease the pressure of Everton boss Roberto Martinez, especially after a devastating defeat at the hands of Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League on Thursday that eliminated the Liverpool club from the continent’s second-tier competition.
