Everton thrashed Chelsea at Goodison Park 3-1 on Saturday in the English Premier League to condemn the Blues to another defeat. Steven Naismith scoring three goals for the Toffees and Nemanja Matic netted for the Blues. Naismith came on for the injured Muhamed Besic.
In the first half the visitors were lacking in defence and were sluggish. Naismith scored in the 17th minute when he beat two challenges and raced into the area beating Asmir Begovic. Five minutes later Naismith smashed a second goal.
Everton broke and passed across the pitch before the ball found Naismith. The Forward sent the ball into Chelsea’s bottom corner. Jose Mourinho showed his rage on the touchline.
Matic unleasheed a superb left-footed shot that went into the top corner of Everton’s goal post to pull one back. Mourinho’s men looked alive towards the end of the first half and Diego Costa might have levelled matters, when he controlled the ball with one touch before shooting the ball wide.
In the 68th minute Naismith played in Romelu Lukaku and the striker shot with his right foot but Begovic was able to save it. Roberto Martinez’s men dealt well with Chelsea’s pressure. Naismith bagged his hat-trick next when Ross Barkley’s through ball found the Scot who drilled the ball under Begovic.
In the process Naismith became the first player to score a hat-trick against Mourinho in the Premier League. Towards the end Everton were playing with the ball as they looked comfortable and took the win. The result leaves the champions down in 15th place on the log with only four points in five games.
The Toffees things are looking good as this win takes them to third on the log.
