Chris Woakes helped England secure an ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up win against the West Indies when he took 5/19 in Sydney on Monday. Bowling first, England took all the wickets in only 29.3 overs. The first wicket was Dwayne Smith for only 21 runs, which included three fours. Chris Gayle and Darren Bravo were both out without scoring.
Woakes managed to dismantle the Windies’ batting line-up as only Lendl Simmons offered genuine resistance with 45 before he too fell victim to Woakes. The Caribbean cricketers were all out for a paltry 122 in only 29.3 overs. The English won the game by nine wickets with a massive 163 balls still remaining.
Moeen Ali became the West Indies first and only victim for 46 runs off 43 balls, including nine fours. In their next warm-up, England will be battling against Pakistan on Wednesday. The Windies will play against Scotland on Thursday.
