Steven Finn and James Anderson wrecked the Indian batting order as England cruised to a nine wicket victory in their One Day International tri-series encounter in Brisbane on Tuesday. Finn dismissed Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni and Axar Patel on his way to superb figures of 5/33 in his eight overs. It was a good day behind the stumps for Jos Buttler who took four catches and a stumping while Anderson helped himself to 4/18 in 8.3 overs as India were dismissed for 153 in only 39.3 overs at the Gabba.
Stuart Binny’s 44 was the best score by an Indian batsman in a total that was never going to be enough. There was a ray of hope when Moeen Ali was out for 8, caught by Kohli of Binny but from 25/1 there would not be another blip for the English. Ian Bell crafted 88 not out while and James Taylor was unbeaten on 56 when the winning runs were hit with 22.3 overs to spare.
The next match in the series features England against Australia in Hobart on Friday.
