Lions Make Two Changes

The Lions take on the Sharks in Durban on Saturday and the coaching staff has made two changes for this Super Rugby clash.  Ross Cronjé will start at scrumhalf for the first time after sustaining a facial injury in the friendly in Polokwane against the Bulls while Rohan Janse Van Rensburg starts at centre.  Coach Johan Ackermann says:  ‘Both these inclusions are part of the rotational system that we have in place to manage to big squad of players in a very long Vodacom Super Rugby competition.

Meanwhile, the Golden Lions Rugby Union has also announced that Faf De Klerk and Armand Van Der Merwe have signed their contracts to remain at Ellis Park for the foreseeable future.  Additiaonlly, the Lions coaching staff have all renewed their contacts with the union until the end of 2018.  Swys De Bruin (Assistant Coach Attack), JP Ferreira (Assistant Coach Defence) and Ivan Van Rooyen (Assistant Coach Conditioning) all put pen to paper for another two years.  

Lions CEO Rudolf Straeuli says:  ‘We are delighted that the contracting of our coaches is finalised and we can focus on the two competitions that we are taking part in as it brings stability and continuity to the GLRU.’
