Slam bam World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay Wilde, is this Saturday defending his WBC title for the first time, against Eric Molina (23-2, 17 KOs), in Alabama. Deontay won the Green and Gold Belt, defeating Bermane Stiverne earlier this year. The bout will take place in Birmingham, Alabama, and it will be broadcast live via SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING.
In the balm of the calm before the storm, Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs), explains he’s delighted to be defending his crown on home turf. The champion says: ‘One of the main promises that I made to myself is to defend my WBC belt in Alabama and now is finally come true. It’s another motivation to get the victory. I have the most important and prestigious title in boxing- the World Boxing Council belt. Everyone wants to have his picture on the belt, but this is mine and nobody will take it from me.’ However Molina is pledging a great surprise.
The challenger says: ‘I have meticulously studied Wilder and we are expecting to have a very tough fight. But, I think that a lot of people underestimate my skills. I am sure I’ve got what it takes to become the new World Champion.’
