Calm and composed World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder says he will protect his world title at all costs. The American showed why’s he’s big time, during a public training session, prior to his June 13th defence against Eric Molina (23-2, 17 KOs). Wilder conquered the title after defeating Bermane Stiverne in January.
The fight is on home turf in Birmingham, Alabama, and it will be broadcast live via SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. After the dust had settled and the sweat had dried, Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs), held court commenting: ‘I haven’t heard too much from Molina, and that’s something good. It means he’s focused on the fight. I hope he comes in great condition to offer a marvellous show for the fans. It’s definitively excellent to fight in my home State. One of the main goals I planned when I became champion was to defend My belt in Alabama. And now this is a reality as well as an extra motivation. I have the belt that all the world wants – the WBC belt, which is the most prestigious and recognised in the entire boxing world. All fighters want to have their picture on this belt, but it is mine and nobody will take it from me!’
