Goals from Samuel Eto’o and Deco saw FC Porto 2004 and Barcelona 2006 play out to a 4-4 draw in the Deco Testimonial Match at the Estadio Dragoa in Porto on Friday. Porto took the lead in the first half through Derlei who latched on to a Benni McCarthy pass and stroked the ball back into the net. Their lead was extended when Deco turned provider to McCarthy who put one past the keeper.
Both sides had chances as they went into the half-time break with Fernando Santos’s men leading 2-0. In the second Barcelona levelled the score at 2-2 as Eto’o and Deco got on the scoreboard. The Cameroonian tapped one in from close range as the keeper found himself in no man’s land and Deco fired one from outside the box.
The hosts took the lead through Edgaras Jankauskas but Eto’o scored his second of the night to bring the scores back to level terms once more. For the first time on the night Barca took the lead through a Lionel Messi header on the run as he latched on to an Eto’o cross. It was a truly fairy tale ending as Deco drew the scores level once more as he scored for both sides on an evening that was all about him.
The game ended in a 4-4 draw.
