The Delhi Daredevils cruised to a comfortable nine wicket victory over the Kings XI Punjab at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on Friday. The home side barely broke a sweat restricting the visitors to a woeful 118. Nathan Coulter-Nile started the rout with 4/20 before Zaheer Khan added two on his first appearance after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The spin of JP Duminy and Amit Mishra finished the job chipping away with one wicket each. Only a knock of 42 off 41 balls from David Miller saved Kings XI further embarrassment. The Delhi franchise was absolutely ruthless in their run chase with only Shreyas Iyer falling.
He had contributed 54 off 40 balls, with four fours and three sixes to the opening stand of 106 alongside Manyank Agarwal’s 52 off 40 balls. The openers played simple cricket and picked off the bad balls with ease until Iyer played too early and was caught at deep mid-wicket.
The result lifted the Daredevils into fourth on the log and partially erased the embarrassment of their heavy defeat to the Royal Challengers Bangalore this week. The Kings XI remain bottom of the log with just two wins but surely with the talent at their disposal would hope to be able to get themselves out of their current slump.
