Crystal Palace Hold Newcastle United

Crystal Palace and Newcastle United shared the spoils with a 3-3 draw at St James’ Park on Saturday in the English Premier League.  Palace’s Dwight Gayle scored the first goal of the game just 30 seconds into play with a close range finish.  Daryl Janmaat’s patchy effort levelled matters for Newcastle.  A Few minutes after the break Jason Puncheon’s volley put the visiting side in the lead once again after giving him too much space.

The Magpies took control of the game but wasted a lot of set pieces putting the opposition under a lot of pressure.  Alan Pardew introduced Jamaican-born youngster Rolando Aarons who shook things up, scoring his first senior goal, heading home after Scott Danns’ flick ran into his path.

Aarons created what everyone thought was a winning goal for the Geordies when his floated effort hit the back post and fell for Mike Williamson to slot home his first Toon goal.  It looked like the Eagles were about to taste their third league defeat as they led twice but were trailing in the last minutes of the game.  However the London club continued to press for an equaliser and it arrived in stoppage time courtesy of  Wilfred Zaha who ensured that Neil Warnock’s reign got off to a promising start.
