Following Miguel Cotto’s TKO triumph over Aussie Daniel Geale, there’s considerable “Canelo” fight appeal. Working with legendary trainer Freddie Roach, has produced three KO’s in as many fights for the Puerto Rico fighter. Cotto was superb in the first defence of the title that he conquered by defeating Argentina’s Sergio ¨Maravilla¨ Martinez by TKO in 10 rounds.
With this important victory at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, he’s on track to clash with Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo´s team were there to see Miguel’s handiwork first hand. Cotto says: ‘Being here with Freddie has made me feel like the Miguel of 2000 and 2004.’ Concerning a possible contest with the flame headed Mexican, Cotto commented: ‘It would be a great fight for us, and for boxing.’
