WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto’s next opponent is Australian Daniel Geale on May 6th in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Cotto became champion by defeating Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez at Madison Square Garden in New York last June. The Puerto Rican says he is delighted to again be fighting in the Big Apple, where he always has the loyal support of his Puerto Rican fans.
Cotto says: ‘I can only say I’ve had many fights in this city and I’m really happy to be back here again. I am aware Daniel Geale is a great fighter but I will do my homework in order to present a great fight. Geale is another chapter in my career. Against him I will do whatever it takes to gain victory. In these important moments in my life I’m trying to gain the very best future possible for my family and for myself. He is currently the best on the list and I will do my very best against him.’
The Australian fighter will not be an easy rival. He has built a record of 31 victories, 3 losses and 16 KOs. Geale says: ‘We’ve come from Australia to win. We will work hard for this fight. I believe it will be exciting, as Cotto is a great champion.”
