Arrows started the match attacking and striker Rodney Ramagalela forced goalkeeper Sherwin Naicker to make a good save in the opening minute. The Lamontville lads continued attacking and were awarded a free kick just outside the box in the eighth minute after Thapelo Sikhakhane was tackled from behind by former Wits defender Ryan Chapman. Naicker made yet another good save.
Mabhuthi Khanyeza’s snap shot nearly hit the post, going wide by an inch in the 28th minute after realising that the keeper was not in his position. The away side was consistent in defence and the hosts didn’t find any chance to test the well-rested Philani Zikalala. Zikalala made his first save of the match just before the end of the opening half from Tebogo Makobela’s free kick after he was brought down on the near side.
The KwaZulu-Natal side started the second half where they left off with Khanyeza forcing Zikalala to make a good save. Moments later, the keeper made anther good save this time from former Leopards striker Magalela. In the 60th minute Ezenkosi looked determined to score the opener and that resulted in the crowd coming to life.
Cosmos striker Abel Zulu missed what was a good chance to score but send his 68th minute scorcher wide of goal. Jomo Sono’s side persistently attacked but did not have any luck in that final finishing pass, which saw the match ending with a goalless draw.
