Colombia defeated Greece 3-0 to record their best ever start at a FIFA World Cup in their Group C encounter at Belo Horizonte on Saturday. The Colombian’s got on the scoreboard early through a Pablo Armero strike from just inside the area. It was all Los Cafeteros from there on.
No matter how hard their opponents tried they were denied many times. The Greeks did get a good chance to draw level before the end of the first half through Panagiotis Kone who forced David Ospina to make a great save as they went into the half time break 1-0 down. Los Cafeteros continued their dominance after the break scoring a second from a corner through Teo Gutierrez.
The men in blue had a chance when Vasillis Torosidis crossed one in towards Theofanis Gekas who only managed to hit the crossbar. The Ethniki continued to attempt to find ways through the Colombian defence to no avail. In added time James Rodriguez powered one past the Greek keeper to finish off a lovely Colombian move and seal an emphatic 3-0 victory for his country.
