Chiefs Leave It Late

Two late goals by Knowledge Musona sealed a 2-0 victory for Kaizer Chiefs against Ajax Cape Town at the Peter Mokaba stadium in an epic Wednesday night Absa Premiership clash.  Anssi Jaakkola was the difference between the two sides in the opening half producing a series of superb saves to deny Amakhosi an opening goal.  The Urban warriors were forced to play deep into their own half and had few chances at goal to mark their presence on the field.

The Glamour Boys almost glittered in the 28th minute when a back pass by Aiden Jenniker caught Jaakkola off-guard and had to clear the ball off the line.  The match remained scoreless heading into the break.

Stuart Baxter took their demons with them into the second half as they continued to create chances only to fail to convert.  Kingston Nkatha did put one in the back of the net in the 63rd minute but the referee had blown his whistle as Tefu Mashamaite was adjudged to have handled the ball.  Nkatha found himself onside and one-on-one with the keeper in the 70th minute but Jaakkola came up tops and forced a corner.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 85th minute when Knowledge Musona cut past the Ajax defence and slotted home.  The Zimbabwean assassin was at it again in the 90th minute as he headed home for his second of the match to give his side a deserved 2-0 victory.  Kaizer Chiefs restored their six point advantage ahead of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns as a result of this 2-0 win against the Urban Warriors, who surprised them 1-0  in the opening round of fixtures.
