Chelsea continued their unbeaten streak in the new English Premier League season after they trashed Aston Villa 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw against Manchester City last week but redeemed themselves as they went passed Villa with ease. The home team scored just seven minutes into the game after a great combination between Brazilian internationals Willian and Oscar, who finished a well taken right footed shot to the bottom left corner.
Willian once again came with another cross which was headed by Diego Costa but the goalkeeper was up to the task this time. The visitors also had a go at the hosts’ keeper when Andreas Weinmann’s shot was blocked by Thibaut Courtois in the 41st minute. Just 15 minutes into the second half newly-signed striker Costa found the back of the net with a header to the centre of the goal through a cross from Cesar Azpilicueta.
Alan Hutton of Aston Villa had his shot stopped by Courtois in the 70th minute. Willian’s hard work throughout the game finally paid off as the Brazilian sealed the victory for Jose Mourinho’s men with a close range shot with 10 minutes of play left. Chelsea remain at the top of the league table.
