Chelsea is seven points clear at the top of the English Premier League after a 2-1 win over Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The first half started at a quick pace, with Loic Remy almost finding the net with a deflected shot but Asmir Begovic was aware. Eden Hazard came close again, cutting in from the right flank but the shot didn’t bother Begovic much.
After 37 minutes Cesc Fabregas was brought down in the box and Hazard converted the penalty. Stoke responded with a wonder goal from 60 metres by Charlie Adam. The first half ended at 1-1.
In the second half Remy was still determined to slot the ball in the net. In the 62nd minute his wish finally came to pass as he tapped in a goal, unmarked. The Frenchman’s goal put his team back in the lead.
The Blues had control of the game. The Potters defended as much as they could but not enough to stop the second goal from going in. The game worked in Chelsea’s favour as it ended in favour of Jose Mourinho’s men.
