World Boxing Council middleweight champion, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KO) and Britain’s Amir “King” Khan’s (31-3, 19 KO) are on a collision course set to explode in Las Vegas on May 7th. The two have an attitude of “Can/Khan travel…will travel” – a clever marketing gimmick, but one they are both putting into practice. Alvarez and Khan cordially started their promotional at the Park Plaza Riverbank in London.
They also went to London Bridge and to Tower Bridge, at key crossing points of the River Thames. Eventually a microphone was handed to the two fighters. The Mexican says: ‘This is my first time in London and I have received the support of many fans and media. Amir Khan is a great boxer and it’ll be a memorable fight. This May 7th we’ll give a great show to all the fans.’
The British boxer was not as diplomatic, predicting a victory for himself: ‘Alvarez is dangerous in the ring and people ask me why should I fight against this great boxer. I really think I can defeat him with my speed, skills and determination. My dream has been always to fight against the very best.’ The two pugilists will be travelling across the unbridgeable Atlantic Ocean to the Hard Rock Café in New York, and then go west to conclude the tour at the Universal City Walk in Los Angeles.
