The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations match between Mali and Cameroon ended as a 1-1 draw at Nuevo Estadio de Malabo, with both teams misfiring in front of goal. The Indomitable Lions got off to a flyer as they were showing more intent in the early part of the game but the Malians had the first attempt at goal. Bakary Sako’s left footed shot was saved by Joseph Ondoa in the 10th minute.
Sako’s cross in the 11th minute needed a touch but that chance was missed. In the 17th minute Cameroon’s Eyong Enoh was replaced by Frank Kom because of an injury. Sako was at it again in the 27th minute as his shot from a difficult angle was saved.
In the 39th minute Benjamin Moukandjo’s header missed and the match went to half-time 0-0. In the second half both teams were looking to up their game. Edgar Salli won a free kick but Aurelien Chedjou’s attempt went over the bar.
The Eagles continued to boss the game and in the 71st minute Sambou Yatabane’s right footed shot from a difficult angle resulted in a great headed pass from Molla Wague to hand Mali a 1-0 lead. In the 78th minute the Cameroonians made a change with Franck Etoundi replacing Kom, and in the 84th minute Ambroise Oyongo equalised 1-1 with a sublime piece of control.
Oyongo received a direct ball from the centre of the park and controlled beautifully before slotting home, all in virtually one action. At the final whistle, it was 1-1.
