The Bulls overturned an early deficit to overpower the Stormers 28-12 in a Vodacom Super Rugby encounter at Loftus on Saturday. The victory consolidates the Pretoria side’s second-place in the South African conference. The DHL Stormers had led 12-0 after 19 minutes thanks to tries by Kurt Coleman and Juan De Jongh. Coleman converted his own try.
After that it was all Vodacom Bulls. Three Handre Pollard penalties and a drop goal by the flyhalf ensured matters were level going into the break. Two second half penalties by Pollard opened up a 18-12 lead before Akona Ndungane outsprinted the visiting defence and managed to apply pressure with his left hand to a ball that had bounced awkwardly.
Pollard duly converted that 65th minute try to put Frans Ludeke’s side out of site. For good measure Jacques-Louis Potgieter slotted over a three-pointer four minutes later and 28-12 was how it finished in favour of the hosts.
