The Brumbies beat the Rebels 20-15 in Melbourne on Saturday and collected much needed points away from home. The ACT franchise was first on the board as they won a scrum penalty in the 12th minute. Christian Leali’ifano slotted the points as they were 3-0 up. Mike Harris levelled up the score in the 15th minute.
Tevita Kuridrani burst through the home defence as he scored the first try for the visitors after 21 minutes. Leali’ifano’s conversion made it 10-3. In the 30th minute Leali’ifano slotted another three points as the Canberra side was 13-3 up just before half-time, but Harris slotted three points for his side as the match went to the break 13-6. In the second half the Rebels were first on the board in the 55th minute as Harris added three more points to reduce the deficit to 13-9.
In the 59th minute Jarrad Butler scored a try and Leali’fano added the extra two as the score moved to 20-9 to put the home side under even more pressure. In the 63rd and 75th minutes Harris slotted two penalties but it wasn’t enough for the home side as the Brumbies managed to hold on to their lead and won 20-15.
