Bangladesh have never reached the knockout stage of an ICC Cricket World Cup but in Shakib Al Hasan they have a player whose performances could change that. Shakib is a dangerous all-rounder who bats aggressively and takes wickets with is left arm orthodox spinners. The 27-year old made his debut against India back in 2007 and has been touted as the best cricketer Bangladesh have produced to date.
In One Day Internationals, the left-hander averages 34.58 with the bat at a decent strike rate of 79.41 with a best of 134 not out against Canada, but also boasts five other ODI tons. With ball in hand he has also done well averaging 27.92, with a very good economy rate of 4.26. The Bangladeshi has taken 182 wickets in his 141 ODI outings.*
There is no doubt that Shakib will hold the key for his side with both bat and ball.
