Royal Challengers Bangalore won by six wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League at Gandhi Stadium, on Friday. David Warner won the toss and elected to bat. Heavy rain resulted in the revision of the game to 11 overs for each side.
Warner’s men had a good game, acquiring 135 runs from 11 overs. The hosts had 19 runs on the board before Shikhar Dhawan (8) was taken out by David Wiese. A partnership of 103 runs between Moises Henriques (57) and Warner (52 not out) became the highlight of the innings.
The score became 122/2 when Wiese broke the partnership by taking out Henriques. In the final over, Mitchell Starc took the last wicket of Eoin Morgan (11) bringing the score to 135/3. The rain caused yet another reverse as the Bangalore innings was reduced to just six overs.
Virat Kohli’s men had a new target of 81 runs off six. The Royal Challengers were successful in their run chase, reaching a total of 83/4 (5,5 overs). A partnership of 43 runs between the skipper (44) and Chris Gayle (35) helped the chasing side to success.
Henriques took two wickets in one over dismissing Gayle and AD De Villiers (0). With only two balls remaining and four runs required Kohli scored a six to win the day.
