Arsenal remain on course for a Uefa Champions League spot after beating Everton 2-0 in an English Premier League meeting at Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky scored two goals securing a spot in the top four. The first half was dominated by the Gunners having tons of chances but unable to land ball in the net.
The Toffees’ defence helped block most of the home side’s attempts. Five minutes before the end of the first half, Giroud scored a fantastic goal; a finish from Mesut Oezil corner kick. In the second stanza Roberto Martinez’s men had a great start looking more alive and showing more aggression towards the hosts.
In the 65th minute Romelu Lakuka, with the assistance of Ross Barkley, attempted to score the visitors’ first goal but the attempt was denied by the keeper. In the 89th minute Rosicky right footed from outside the box to the centre of the goal to eliminate Everton’s chances. Martinez’s men remain in the bottom half of the table and will on Wednesday face Stoke City.
Arsene Wenger’s charges will be playing against Queens Park Rangers on the same day.
