Everton has been beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at Goodison Park in the English Premier League. The Gunners were looking for a positive result after having been knocked out of the FA Cup and Uefa Champions League in the same week. The London side meant business from the very beginning of the match and attacked with menace.
Their efforts paid off in the sixth minute when Danny Welbeck scored after going past Toffees goalkeeper Joel Robles and putting the ball into the back of the net. They were playing their usual passing game very effectively. Alex Iwobi doubled the lead for Arsene Wenger’s troops when he received a lobbed pass from Hector Bellerin and put the ball between Robles’ legs to score just before half-time.
The Merseysiders were having a go at Wenger’s boys too but could not quite find their main man Romelu Lukaku to finish. The second half was similar to the first except that Roberto Martinez’s men seemed a bit more alert in defence, keeping themselves from conceding yet another goal. There were no further goals scored but it still meant that the away club went home with all three points.
The Emirates Stadium side remains in the title race, just, after this win going eight points within league leaders Leicester City while the Liverpool team is still in 12th place
