Anthony Joshua accomplished the unthinkable, becoming the IBF World Heavyweight champion in just his 16th fight at the expense of Charles Martin on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London. The bout started off with the newly crowned champion throwing in some tough punches trying to earn respect from his opponent. However they proved to much for Martin who looked out of his depth.
The bout was scheduled for 12 rounds but it only took two for a new champion to be crowned. The second round continued as did the first – Joshua providing the punches and Martini trying to consume the pressure. It did not take long for the Briton to unleash his final blow.
Early in round two, the home fighter released his right hand and it connected well thus bringing the American down. The latter did enough to get up, but he went straight down again and looked like someone who did not know where he was. After the referee’s count, Anthony Joshua had became Britain’s newest world heavyweight champion.
