Novak Djokovic Breezes Through At US Open

2011 US Open champion Novak Djokovic wasted no time in racing past Argentina Diego Schwartzman in Monday night’s Arthur Ashe Stadium night session action.  The number one seed stormed past the Argentine 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 in just 97 minutes en route to the men’s singles second round in New York.

Milos Raonic of Canada was too strong for Taor Daniel of Japan at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. The fifth seed beat Daniel by 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (1). Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka is through to the US Open men’s singles second round after a straight sets win over Jiri Vesely on Monday.  The Swiss saw off the Czech 6-2, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3) at the Arthur Ashe Stadium before the night session.

Ninth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga needed four sets to book his place in the second round.  The Frenchman saw off Argentina’s Juan Monaco 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1 at the Grandstand Arena.

Earlier, 2012 champion Andy Murray was puhsed hard by Robin Haase at Flushing Meadows.  The eighth seeded Brit eventually overcame of the Dutchman 6-3, 7-6 (6), 1-6, 7-5 in three hours and eight minutes at the Louis Armstrong Stadium during the day session.
