Andy Murray beat Frenchman Gael Monflis to secure, for the second time in his career, a spot in the Roland Garros semi-finals. The Scot will face-off against defending champion Rafael Nadal. Murray defeated local man Monflis 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 1-6, 6-0 after being pushed all the way by the home favourite in an exhilarating clash on Wednesday in Paris.
Murray started at his best against Monflis winning both first and second sets, but Monflis fought back fiercely to bore doubts in Murray’s campaign and won the third and fourth sets. The Briton responded intensely in the last set breaking Monflis three times and closing the set emphatically 6-0. Murray will go head to head against defending champion Nadal who managed to defeat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1. In the other semi-final Novak Djokovic will take on Ernests Gulbis.
