Blanks were fired on Sunday afternoon at the Moses Mabida Stadium when AmaZulu took on the University of Pretoria in an Absa Premiership contest. It was an almost actionless encounter as opportunities to score, between both teams, were virtually non-existent and perhaps the highlight of the match was when Bongani Ndulula failed to convert from a set-piece that saw the ball land right at his feet in the first five minutes of the match.
As the encounter ensued, the hosts seemed to be the side most in control of events on the pitch, but it was AmaTuks who looked more intimidating as the half wore on. Steven Barker and Craig Rosslee would have gone into half-time needing to earn their money but the second half looked like it was going to be just as barren as it was only in the 69th minute after the introduction of Ruzaigh Gamildien that any clear cut chances were produced. Ndulula once again failed to score with a close range attempt after some forward thinking by Gamildien. Tuks are safe from any relegation fear while Usuthu remain in contention for a top eight finish.
