Ajax Cape Town shared the spoils with Maritzburg United 0-0 in an Absa Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night. The hosts had an early and impressive display but suffered an early blow when Rivaldo Coetzee was replaced due to injury. Bantu Mzwakali come close to giving Ajax the lead with a decent free kick but Virgil Vries denied him the chance.
Both sides had fair chances to take the lead but none reached the target. The visitors almost took a lead early in the second half through Ghanaian defender John Paintsil, who hit the top of the crossbar with a header from a set piece. David Booysen received a red card after receiving a second yellow for a late challenge on Tashreeq Morris and Steve Komphela’s boys finished the game with 10 men.
It mattered little as the Urban Warriors and Team of Choice shared the points.
