Platinum Stars striker Ndumiso Mabena has been called up to replace the injured Dino Ndlovu in the Bafana Bafana squad to take on Cameroon in the 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Cyprus-based Ndlovu reported for national team duty and was withdrawn after being assessed by the medical team. He is carrying a knee injury.
Mabena has already joined his compatriots in camp but he missed the first training session at the UJ Stadium, Soweto Campus held on Monday afternoon (21 March). Meanwhile defender Anele Ngcongca sat out the same training session due to an abdominal muscle strain. Andile Jali trained on his own as he is nursing a dislocated shoulder, while Thabo Matlaba could not finish the session because of a painful toe.
The trio is still under medical observation but are expected to be ready for the clash against Cameroon on Saturday at Stade Omnisport de Limbe in Limbe. Kick off is at 15:30 local time (16:30 South African time). The return leg will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Tuesday, 29 March 2016.
Kick off is at 19:00.
