Jonathan Guzman and Daniel Rosas will fight it out for the IBF super bantamweight number two position on April 29 in Atlantic City. Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing made the announcement on Monday. The International Boxing Federation has agreed to sanction a super bantamweight voluntary elimination fight between their number seven contender, Guzman, and number 14, Rosas, for the number two position in their ratings. Under the IBF rules criteria, two of the top five available contenders can compete in a voluntary elimination fight for the second-highest spot in the ratings.
Guzman (20-0, 20 KOs) from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and Rosas (20-2-1, 12 KOs) from Mexico City, are Sampson Boxing promotional stablemates. The bout is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, 2016, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Lewkowicz says: ‘I am excited about the opportunity for both my fighters. My congratulations to both of them. May the best man win and take over the number two spot with a great organisation like the IBF.’
All the necessary contracts have already been signed, in compliance with the IBF rules.
